HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL Miners shut down Panthers in Jones’ debut

Mingo Central used a big second half to pull away and beat Tug Valley, 38-0, at Bob Brewer Stadium on Thursday night.

Miner quarterback Chris Ross passed for 148 yards and two scores, and he added a rushing touchdown on 68 yards. Running back Dylan Vance finished with 87 yards and a touchdown on nine carries while Aiden Burke added 31 yards and a score on four attempts.

Vance had a big night receiving with 63 yards on five catches and a TD reception.

Tug Valley quarterback Jaxon Nenni-Mills passed for 57 yards and rushed for 19 against a rock-solid Miners defense. Receiver Bryson Elia had 58 yards on four catches.

Both teams will be back in action next Friday as the Miners host Westside at James H. “Buck: Harless Stadium and the Panthers welcome Sherman. Both games will kick at 7:30 pm.
