HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Miners spoil Hall of Fame game for Billies

Mingo Central dominated from start to finish as the Miners rolled past Man, 40-0, at George Queen Memorial Field on Friday night.

The rout came on a night the Man High School Athletic Hall of Fame inducted seven members into the Class of 2023.

Miners quarterback Chris Ross passed for 124 yards and one TD pass. He rushed for 52 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Running back Dylan Vance ran for 146 yards, including an 88-yard TD run late in the opening half.

Mingo Central’s defense stuffed out the Hillbillies and accounted for a pair of touchdowns. Malaki Sheppard had a 40-0yard interception return and Amani Lovett scooped up a fumble and ran it back 64 yards to paydirt.

Both teams will be back in action on Friday night as the Miners (4-0) host Independence (1-1) at “Buck Harless Stadium. Kickoff is 7 pm. The Hillbillies (3-1) will host Wyoming East (0-4). Game time is 7:30 pm.
