HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Mingo Central crushes Westside in home opener

Mingo Central opened an air assault on Westside and the result was a 61-6 victory in a game played at James H. “Buck” Harless Stadium on Friday night.

Quarterback Chris Ross completed 13 of 19 passes for 346 yards and five touchdowns as the Miners moved to 2-0.

Receiver Aiden Burke caught five passes for 143 yards and a pair of TD passes. Malaki Sheppard hauled in four for 111 yards and two scores.

Dylan Vance added a 68-yard touchdown reception.

The Miners will hit the road on Friday night to face Liberty-Raleigh (0-2). Kickoff is 7 pm.
