HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Pikeville falls at Madison Central

The game came down to a potential game-winning 38-yard field goal field for Pikeville in the closing seconds on the road at Madison Central.

The Indians, who had forced a fumble at the two-yard line on the prior possession which would have given the Panthers the lead, blocked the field goal attempt by Jacob Rogers and turned away Pikeville, 21-19, on Friday night.

Pikeville, now 4-2, had closed to within two on quarterback Isaac McNamee’s eight-yard touchdown pass to Wade Hensley with 10 minutes left. The two-point conversion pass failed.

Running back Blake Birchfield finished with 125 yards on 25 carriers and McNamee passed for 125 and ran for a score. Hensley caught six passes for 66 yards.

Rogers kicked field goals of 27 and 24 yards.
