HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Pikeville, JC remain 1-2 in Super 7 poll

There was no change this week among the top three teams in the Mountain Top Sports’ Super 7 football poll released on Tuesday.

Pikeville (4-2) held tight to the top spot following the Panthers impressive win over previously unbeaten Class 6A power Madison Central.

The Panthers are followed by No. 2 Johnson Central (4-2) and No. 3 Lawrence County (5-1). The Golden Eagles beat Clay County while the Bulldogs edged Boyd County.

Shelby Valley (4-2) is fourth following a big district win over previously undefeated Prestonsburg on the road. 

The Wildcats are followed by Letcher Central (5-2) at No. 5. The Cougars knocked off Harlan County,

Belfry (4-3) is in at No. 6. The Pirates rolled past Floyd Central in a district game. The Pirates are followed by Logan (5-1) at No. 7. The Wildcats edged Nitro.

Receiving votes this week are Man (5-1), Tug Valley (5-1), Martin County (4-2) and Prestonsburg (6-1).
