HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Pikeville rolls past Paintsville for first win

Pikeville running back Blake Birchfield rushed for three touchdowns and quarterback Isaac Duty passed for a pair as the Panthers breezed past Paintsville, 36-0, in a game played at Memorial Field on Friday night. 

Birchfield carried 14 times for 142 yards. He had TD runs of 46, 13 and 28. Duty completed 14 of 17 passes for 189 yards. Receiver Tayvian Boykins had 82 yards on five catches and scored on passes of 21 and five yards. 

Paintsville was led on the ground by Harris Phelps with 104 yards on 17 rushing attempts. 

The Panthers are idle this coming weekend before hosting Belfry (1-2) on Sept. 16. The Tigers will host Somerset (2-1) on Friday night. Kickoff is 7:30 pm.
