HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Pirates no match for Maroons in season opener

Belfry ran into a buzz-saw against Class 5A Pulaski County as the Maroons dominated the Pirates, 55-13, in the season opener played on Friday night.

The Pirates were held to 232 total yards on 54 plays and was shutout for better than two and one-half quarters.

Isaac Dixon had 116 yards and two touchdowns on 13 rushes. He had TD runs of 20 and 33 yards.

Running back Zane Hatfield added 55 yards on 10 rushing attempts.

Belfry will next host Covington Catholic (0-1) in the Pike County Bowl this coming Friday night.
