Tug Valley quarterback Joby Sorrell passed for 444 yards and six touchdowns, including a pair of TDs in the game’s final two minutes to rally the second-ranked Panthers to a come-from-behind 38-32 win over James Monroe in a battle of top 10 teams at Bob Brewer Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Panthers, now 3-0, overcame seven turnovers to hand the 10th-ranked Mavericks their first loss. Sorrell tossed a 36-yard touchdown pass to Ian Reed to complete the comeback. He had six catches for 71 yards, but none bigger than his last.
Tug Valley trailed 32-26 when Sorrell hit Ethan Colegrove with a pass at the James Monroe 25 and he hook and lateral the ball to Caleb May who ran into the endzone to tie the game. May finished with 205 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Colegrove had 87 yards on six catches.
The Panthers will return to action on Oct. 9 when they welcome Trinity Christian (0-1). Kickoff is 7pm.
