HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Tug Valley rallies past Logan

Tug Valley shut down Logan after the opening quarter and the Panthers rallied for a 22-12 win at Bob Brewer Field on Friday night.

The Wildcats, now 0-2, took the lead on Aiden Slack’s 75-yard opening kickoff  return. Running back Jordan Hayes pushed the lead to 12-0 with a 36-yard run. Hayes passed for 101 yards and rushed for 74.

It was all Tug Valley from the second quarter on.

Tanner Kirk’s thee-yard run and Joby Sorrell;s conversion pass to Jarrett Barker made it 12-8 at the break. Kirk rushed for 111 yards on 16 carries.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Panthers took the lead for good at 14-12 on Sorrell’s 28-yard scoring strike to Ethan Colegrove.

Sorrell’s second TD pass, this one to Caleb May, put the game out of reach for the Wildcats. He passed for 92 yards. May has three catches for 36 yards.

Tug Valley will host James Monroe (1-0) on Oct. 6. Kickoff is set for 7 pm. Logan is scheduled to play at Scott (1-3) on Oct. 9. Kickoff is 7:30 pm.
