HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Turnovers doom Miners in loss to Poca

Mingo Central was driving for the potential go-ahead touchdown when quarterback Chris Ross’ intended pass was picked off and return for a touchdown as undefeated Poca escaped with a 22-13 win in a game played at James H. “Buck” Harless Stadium on Friday night.

Ross passed for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Miners dropped to 1-3. He was intercepted four times, all in the second half.

Receivers Preston Smith and Kenneth Runyon had a TD catch each.

Running back Norman Kennedy ran for 80 yards.
