HIGH SCHOOL: Panthers top Wolves; Lady Panthers fall

Pikeville overcame a two-run deficit and defeated Wolfe County, 6-2, in a game played at Davis Park on Tuesday night.

Noah Jarrell drove in a pair of runs as the Panthers moved to 12-6. Sam Wright added two singles, walked, batted in one run, and scored twice.

Winning pitcher Jackson Hall tripled, walked, knocked in one run, and scored while Bradyn Hall had two hits, walked, and scored two runs.

Letcher Central pitcher Alyssa Nicely tossed a four-hit shutout as the Lady Cougars blanked Pikeville, 2-0, in a game played at Cougar Field on Tuesday night.

Autumn Wampler had two hits, including a double, and scored one run. MacKenzie Nantz singled in one run and scored.

Nicely tripled and Chloe Wampler added a single.

Gracie Hall had two of Pikeville’s four hits, both singles. Caroline Brown and Larren Collins had one hit each.

Lexie Akers took the loss.
