HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Belfry blanks Harlan County; JC teams remain unbeaten

Belfry’s Aidan McCoy and Nick Savage scored a pair of goals each and each had an assist as the Pirates went on the road to Harlan County and blanked the Black Bears, 4-0, in a match played on Monday night. 

Goalkeeper Makenda Maynard finished with 12 saves.

Pikeville…………..1 

Johnson Central’s Sawyer Crum scored a pair of goals to help lead the Eagles to a 4-1 win over Pikeville in a match played at Jim Matney Field on Monday night. 

Brayden Staniford and Nick Hardin added one goal each. 

Goalkeeper Tate Cox had nine saves.  

Pikeville’s only goal came off the leg of Noah Howie. Bryson Collins had 17 saves between the pipes.

Belfry………………..1 

Johnson Central’s Lakin Bentley scored four goals to lead the Lady Eagles to a 5-1 win over Belfry in a match played at Jim Matney Field on Tuesday night. 

Brooklyn Ousley scored on a penalty kick as Johnson Central improved to 3-0. 

Belfry’s Myra Bevins scored the Lady Pirates lone goal and goalkeeper Jazzy Cline stopped 21 shots between the pipes. 

Prestonsburg……..13 

Paintsville………….2 

Prestonsburg’s Anna Burch scored five goals and assisted on one other to power the Lady Blackcats to a 13-2 road win at Paintsville on Tuesday night. 

Sophie Stephens knocked in three goals and Jade Fitzpatrick added two and one assist. 

Emily Burchett had one goal and three assists while Maggie Nelson scored a goal and Kendyl Stephens had two assists. 

Paintsville’s Camryn Helton had both goals for the Lady Tigers. Kali Mulcahy assisted on one.
