The Belfry Pirates scored a pair of goals in each half and beat Pikeville, 4-0, in the opening round of the 15th Region tournament played at Massey Energy Soccer Complex on Monday night.
David Michael Hagy scored off a corner kick from Nick Savage in the 30th minute to give Belfry the lead. He scored again off a corner kick by Tucker Slone in the 40th minute ahead of halftime.
Savage pushed the Pirates up 3-0 with an unassisted goal in the 67th minute. Isaac Elia added a goal three minutes later.
Goalkeeper Makenda Maynard had 11 saves as the Panthers took 14 shots on goal.
Pikeville’s Bryson Collins stopped five shots as the Panthers season ended at 7-8-3.
Belfry, now 7-7-1, will face Prestonsburg at Johnson Central on Oct. 10.
