HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Belfry boys nip Pikeville; JC girls score road win

 

Belfry scored a pair of second-half goals and held off a late Pikeville surge to score a 2-1 win in a match played at Massey Energy Soccer Complex on Tuesday night. 

Tucker Slone and Isaac Elia had one goal each and Makaden Maynard stopped nine shots on goal as the Pirates moved to 9-6. 

Jacob Rogers netted the lone goal for the Panthers, now 3-9. Goalkeeper Bryson Collins finished with nine saves.

Letcher Central…1 

Hazard’s Kison Hillman scored a pair of goals to lead the Bulldogs to a 3-1 win over Letcher Central in a match played at Daniel Field on Tuesday night. 

Conner Bowling scored an unassisted goal in the loss as the Cougars dropped to 3-8-2. Goalkeeper Nate Cook had 19 saves.

Johnson Central’s Heather Lyons scored in the opening minute of the second half as the Lady Eagles held on to beat Belfry, 3-2, in a match played at Massey Energy Soccer Complex on Tuesday night. 

Lauren Osbourne scored a pair of goals in the first half as the match was tied 2-2 at the break. 

Belfry’s Myra Bevins netted both goals for the Lady Pirates, now 7-9. Jazzy Cline had 15 saves. 

Johnson Central improved to 7-4. 

Letcher Central….10

Letcher Central took control in the early going and the Lady Cougars cruised to a 10-0 win over Hazard in a match played at Danield field on Tuesday night. 

Emma Adams and Skylar Frazier had three goals each and both assisted on a pair of goals each as Central moved to 7-3-1. Kelsey Goins added a hat trick and Angelina Acevedo added one goal. 

Goalie Kara Breeding recorded the shutout. 

Martin County……11 

Paintsville…………..2 

Martin County’s Laura Hale scored four goals and assisted on five others to power the Lady Cardinals to an 11-2 win over Paintsville in a match played at The Rock on Tuesday night. 

Caitlyn Horn added three goals while Sophie McCoy netted two goals and finished with five assists. 

Lerna Hale and Emila Ek added one goal each. Camryn Helton scored both goals for the Lady Tigers, now 4-9-1. Goalkeeper KK Vannoy had 14 saves. 

The Lady Cardinals are now 7-6. 

Prestonsburg…..6 

Russell……………3 

Prestonsburg standout Anna Burchett scored four goals and assisted on two others to lead the Lady Blackcats to a 6-3 road win at Russell on Tuesday night. 

Sophie Stephens added two goals as Prestonsburg improved to 12-0-1. 

Josie Fitzpatrick, Emily Burchett and Hannah Blankenship each had an assist.
