HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Bulldogs blank Greenup; Panthers fall at Wolfe County

Lawrence County continued its strong early-season play at the Bulldogs rolled to a 10-0 win over Greenup County in a match played on Thursday night.

Blake Maynard scored five goals and Luke Johnson followed with four as Lawrence County moved to 2-0. Andrew Vinson added one goal.

Goalkeeper Trenton Adkins finished with five saves and recorded his second shutout.

Pikeville……….4

Pikeville went on the road to Wolfe County and the Panthers fell short, 5-4, in a match played on Thursday night.

Trey Hancock and Aaron Change had a pair of goals each for Pikeville, now 0-2.

Alex Lewis had two goals and one assist for the Wolves. Caiden Creech added one goal and assisted on two others.

Blackcat standout Anna Burchett, who scored eight goals in the season opener earlier this week, finished with five and two assists as Prestonsburg scored an 8-1 win over Paintsville in a match played at StoneCrest Soccer Complex on Thursday night.

Sophie Stephens followed with two goals and Kadynce Hackworth added one. Emily Burchett assisted on two other scores.

Goalkeeper Crystal Allen had three saves and allowed just a single goal.

Paintsville’s lone goal was scored by Ashley Wells. It was unassisted. Goalie Chelsea Reynolds had a busy match with 15 saves.

The Lady Blackcats improved to 2-0 while the Lady Tigers fell to 1-1.

Johnson Central scored a hard-fought 3-2 win over Martin County in a match played at Eagle Field on Thursday night.

Haley Lykins had two goals and Lakin Bentley added one for the Lady Eagles, now 1-0-1.

Kaitlyn Gauze scored both goals for the Lady Cardinals on penalty kicks in the season opener. Goalkeeper Marlie Fletcher finished with five saves.

Lawrence County standout Jasmine Justice scored seven goals to power the Lady Bulldogs to a 10-0 win over Lawrence County in a match played on Thursday night.

Alyssa Moore followed with three goals and three assists as the Lady Bulldogs moved to 1-1. Brylee Blair finished with two assists.

Goalkeeper Kaison Ward recorded the shutout.

Belfry dominated shots on goal as the Lady Pirates blanked Shelby Valley, 5-0, in a match played at Teco Field on Thursday night.

Kinley Jackson had a pair of goals to stake Belfry to a 2-0 halftime lead. Zoey Caudill, Kynlea Stanley, and Bailey McCoy each added a second-half goal.

Jazzy Cline and Sydney Stafford combined to record the shutout as the Lady Pirates moved to 1-1.

McKenna Caudill finished with 18 saves for the Lady Cats in their season opener.
