HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: JC rolls past LCC; Lady Blackcats fall in Final Four

Johnson Central grabbed the lead away from Letcher Central and went on to post an 8-1 in a match played at Cougar Field on Monday night.

Manveer Singh had a hat trick for the Golden Eagles, now 8-7-3. Sawyer Crum added two goals and two assists.

Braydon Staniford and Shawn Arms added two goal and two assists each while Drew Conley net one goal.

Goalkeeper Tate Cox finished with 13 saves.

Lance Whitaker had the lone goal for the Cougars off an assist from Javier Polly.

Goalkeeper Nate Cook stopped 32 shots as LCC dropped to 4-8-1.

Prestonsburg’s run in the All “A” Classic state tournament ended with an Elite 8 loss to Bishop Brossart, 2-1, in a match played in Frankfort on Saturday.

Bryan Amador scored the lone goal for the Blackcats, now 15-2-0. Dylan Moore had an assist.

Lawrence County’s Blake Maynard scored four goals and assisted on three others to help the Bulldogs to an 8-1 win over Belfry in a match played at Massey Energy Soccer Complex on Saturday.

Luke Johnson added four goals and one assist as the Bulldogs improved to 11-2-1.

Peyton Brown and Brian Nelson had two assists each and goalkeeper Trenton Adkins had six saves.

Tyler Slone had the Pirates (3-6-0) lone goal. Ian Loomis had 21 saves between the pipes.

Shawns Arms scored both goals for the Eagles, now 7-7-3. Michael Summers had an assist.

Pikeville goalkeeper Bryson Collins stopped nine shots on goal as the Panthers battled Wolfe County to a 0-0 tie in a match played at Bob Amos Soccer Complex on Saturday.

Lawrence County dominated Shelby Valley from start to finish in scoring a 10-0 win in a home match played Monday night.

Alyssa Moore scored five goals and assisted on four others as the Lady Bulldogs moved to 10-5-0. Laylen Hopson and Jasmine Justice each added one goal and one assist.

Brylee Blair and Jenna Sammons scored one goal apiece while Shelby Borders, Maggie Johnson, Katy Compton, and Kaison Ward each had an assist.

Prestonsburg’s All “A” Classic state tournament run ended in a Final Four loss to Lexington Christian, 7-3, in a match played in Frankfort on Saturday.

Anna Burchett had three goals and Alexis Skeens added an assist as the Lady Blackcats lost for the first time all season in 16 matches.

Goalkeeper Lindsey Stratton stopped eight shots.

Prestonsburg advanced to the All “A” Classic state tournament Final Four with a hard-fought 4-2 win over Walton-Verona in a match played on Saturday.

Hannah Jarrell, Kadynce Hackworth and Sophie Stephens each scored one goal.

Lindsey Stratton had eight saves between the pipes.

Laura Hale added three goals and a pair of assists as Martin County improved to 8-5-1.

Sophia McCoy scored one goal and had three assists while Caitlyn Horn added one goal and assisted on two others.

Goalkeepers Jaaliyah Warren and Marlie Fletcher combined for the shutout.
