HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: LCC boys top Buckhorn; Pikeville girls beat Hazard

Letcher Central dominated its match with Buckhorn from start to finish as the Cougars cruised to an 11-1 win in a match played at Cougar Field on Saturday. 

Conner Bowling and Nathan Kiser finished with a hat trick each while Jonah Fitch, Laken Johnston, Skylar Holbrook, Ethan Whitaker, and Kaleb Slone scored one goal each.

Prestonsburg…………0 

Ashland Blazer had four different players score a single goal each as the host Tomcats blanked Prestonsburg, 4-0, in a match played on Saturday. 

Hazard…………3 

Pikeville……….0 

Hazard goalkeeper Derrick Sizemore had 16 saves and led the Bulldogs to a 3-0 win over Pikeville in a match played at Daniel Field on Saturday. 

Joseph Amburgey net a pair of goals. 

Pikeville goalie Bryson Collins stopped five shots and Keyton Looney added two. 

GIRLS 

Belfry………….7 

Paintsville…….3 

Belfry’s Myra Bevins scored six goals to lead the Lady Pirates to a 7-3 win over Paintsville in a road match played on Saturday. 

Zoey Caudill added one goal off an assist by Bevins. 

Paintsville’s Camryn Helton had all three goals in the loss. 

Belfry took 30 shots on a goal and the Lady Tigers had 20. Lady Pirate goalie Jazzy McCoy had 11 saves and Paintsville’s Maggie Music stopped 15. 

Estill County……..4 

Letcher Central….2 

Letcher Central’s Kelsey Goins and Skylar Frazier scored one unassisted goal each, but it was not enough as visiting Estill County scored a 4-2 win in a match played at Cougar Field on Saturday. 

Central goalkeeper finished with nine saves. 

Maci Muncie scored three goals to lead the Lady Engineers.

Pikeville’s Rylee Theiss scored five goals and assisted on two others to help lead the Lady Panthers to a 9-0 win over Hazard at Daniel Field on Saturday. 

Josie Clevenger scored a pair of goals while Livie Thacker and Maddie Ratliff added one each. 

Ashlyn Wallace and Larren Collins shared time between the pipes.
