HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Letcher Central kicks Buckhorn; JC girls top Pikeville

Letcher Central’s Nathan Kiser scored five g oals to power te Cougars to a 14-0 win over Buckhorn in the season opener played on Tuesday.

Brody Cook added three goals and one assist while Sergio Vazquez kicked in three goals.

Kaleb Slone had two goals and one assist while Conner Bowling added one goal and one assist.

Goalkeeper William Bolling scored the shutout between the pipes.

Johnson Central’s Alaina Cheek scored a pair of goals  to help the Lady Eagles defeat Pikeville, 4-2, in the season opener for both teams on Monday night.

Kiersten Sagraves had one goal and one assist while Lauren Arrowood scored once.

Goalkeeper Abigail Ramey stopped eight shots on goal.

Pikeville standout Rylee Thiess scored both goals for the Lady Panthers.

Lauren Collins finished with nine saves.
