HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Maynard scores 9 goals in Lawrence County win

Lawrence County’s Blake Maynard had a career performance with nine goals to power the Bulldogs to a 9-1 win over Johns Central in a match played at Jim Matney Memorial Field on Monday night. 

Sam LeFever assisted on six goals as the Bulldogs moved to 7-4-3.  

Goalkeeper Ryland brady stopped six shots.

Ashland Blazer goalkeeper Sawyer Frazier stopped the only shot Belfry had on goal and the Tomcats blanked the Pirates in a match played on Monday night. 

Belfry’s Makaden Maynard finished with 25 saves as the Pirates dropped to 11-7. 

Drew Clark had a pair of unassisted goals.

Pikeville went on the road to Mingo Central and scored a 3-1 win in a match played on Saturday. 

Rylee Theiss had a pair of goals and Livie Thacker added one as the Lady Panthers improved to 9-7-2.

Prestonsburg’s All “A” state tournament run ended in a 10-0 loss to Louisville Collegiate in a match played at Frankfort on Saturday. 

Thomas Weinrich had three goals and one assist for the Titans.

Belfry’s Isaac Elia scored on an assist from Aiden McCoy in the 74th minute to give the Pirates a 1-0 win over host Paintsville in a match played on Saturday. 

Paintsville goalie Jack Johnson finished with 14 saves. Belfry took 15 shots on goal. 

Makaden Maynard recorded the shutout as the Pirates moved to 11-6.

Lawrence County and Greenup County battled back and forth before the match ended in a 4-4 tie on Saturday. 

Blake Maynard nets all four goals for the Bulldogs, now 6-4-3. Andrew Vinson had two assists and Sam LeFever added one.

 Letcher Central goalkeeper Nate Cook finished with 33 saves, the lone bright spot in the Cougars 7-0 loss to South Laurel at Cougar Field on Saturday.

Prestonsburg’s offense was held in check as Walton-Verona turned back the Lady Blackcats, 2-1, in the All “A” state tournament matchup played in Frankfort on Saturday. 

Anna Burchett scored the lone goal as the Lady Blackcats fell to 14-1-1, snapping an 11-match winning streak. 

Sophie Stephens assisted on the goal. Keeper Lindsey Stratt9n had 11 saves.

Paintsville dropped a home match to Perry Central, falling 5-4, on Saturday. 

Camryn Helton scored three goals and Emilea preece added one as the Lady Tigers moved to 4-10-2.

Pikeville held off Lincoln County down the stretch to score a 2-1 win over Lincoln County (WV), 2-1, in a match played at Bob Amos Soccer Complex on Saturday. 

Rylee Theiss had one goal and assisted on another by Josie Clevenger as the Lady Panthers improved to 8-7-2. 

Goalkeeper Larren Collins had nine stops between the pipes.

Belfry built a three-goal halftime lead, and the Pirates went on to blank Letcher Central, 5-0, in a match played at Massey energy Soccer Complex on Thursday night. 

Aiden McCoy scored a pair of goals while Nick Savage, Isaac Elia and Tucker Slone added one each. 

Goalkeeper Makaden Maynard had 14 saves as the Pirates improved to 10-6. 

LCC goalie Nate Cook stopped seven shots as the Cougars fell to 3-9-2.

Prestonsburg held on in the closing minutes to edge Johnson Central, 3-2, in a match played at Jim Matney Memorial Field on Thursday night. 

Bryan Amador finished with a hat trick as the Blackcats moved to 13-5-1. Max Jervis and Brody Boyd had an assist each. 

Sawyer Crum scored both goals for the Golden Eagles, now 10-7. Goalkeeper Tate Cox stopped 13 shots.

Belfry dominated from the outset as the Lady Pirates rolled to an 11-0 win over Shelby Valley in a match played on Thursday night. 

Myra Bevins had five goals and Bailey McCoy added three as the Lady Pirates moved to 8-9.  

Zoey Caudill added two goals and two assists while Roxy Cline added one goal Makenna Justice had two assists. 

Goalkeeper Jazzy Cline recorded the shutout.

Martin County’s Laura Hale knocked home six goals and assisted on two others as the Lady Cardinals cruised to a 10-0 win over Lawrence County in a match played on the road on Thursday night. 

Sophia McCoy followed with three goals and four assists while Tamara Workman scored once. Caitlyn Horn assisted on two others as Martin County improved to 8-6.
