HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Pikeville, JC battles to 1-1 tie; Letcher doubles up Harlan County

Pikeville goalkeeper Keyton Looney and Johnson Central’s Peyton Daniels stopped all but one shot each as the teams battled to a 1-1 tie in a match played at Bob Amos Soccer Complex on Thursday night.

Looney stopped nine shots while Daniels made 15 saves.

Matthew Mullins shot the lone goal for the Panthers while Brayden Staniford scored off an assist by Jaidon Daniel for the Golden Eagles.

Letcher Central moved to 2-0 on the season as the Cougars knocked off Harlan County 4-2 on the road Thursday night.

Peyton Pierce had two goals while Kaleb Slone and Nathan Kiser added one e ach.

Goalkeeper William Bolling had a big match, stopping 18 shots by the Black Bears.

Belfry kicked off the soccer season with an 8-0 win over Shelby Valley in a match played at Massey Energy Soccer Complex on Tuesday night.

Nick Savage had three goals and three assist to lead the Pirates.

Noah Hale had two while Makaden Maynard, Isaac Elia and Jack Williamson scored one each.

Johnson Central fell to East Carter, 401, in the season opener played on the road Tuesday night.

Brayden Staniford scored off an assist by Bryson Sergent for the Golden Eagles lone goal.

Goalkeeper Peyton Daniel had 13 saves.

Martin County went on the road to Boyd County and came up short, 2-1, in a match played on Thursday night.

Lara Hale scored off an assist from Lena Hale for the Lady Cardinals lone goal.

Goalkeeper Addison Duncan finished with nine saves.

Belfry fell behind early on to Russell and the Lady Pirates came up on the losing end of a 1202 match played at Massey Energy Soccer Complex on Thursday night.

Myra Bevins cored Belfry’s two goals. Kylie Deboard added an assist.

Martin County opened the season with a 501 win over Pikeville in a match played at home on Tuesday night.

Sophie McCoy had a pair of goals and one assist. Laura Hale added two goals and to assist while Faith Caldwell added one goal.

Addison Duncan had six saves.

Rylee Theiss scored the lone Pikeville goal.

Goalkeeper Larren finished with 15 saves between the pipes.

Belfry’s Zoey Caudill and Myra Bevins scored four goals each as the Lady Pirates cruised to a 12-0 win over Shelby Valley in the season opener played at Massey Energy Soccer Complex on Tuesday night.

Makena Justice added two goals and one assist while Kylie Deboard and Adelyn Belcher scored one each.

Goalkeeper Zoey Cline recorded the shutout.
