HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Prestonsburg teams sweep 57th District titles

Prestonsburg’s post-season dominance continued as the Blackcats, and Lady Blackcats scored championship match wins at The Rock on Wednesday night.

Bryan Maynard and Dylan Moore scored a pair of goals each as the Blackcats blanked Johnson Central, 6-0. Bryan Amador and Isaiah Collins added one goal each as Prestonsburg moved to 19-2.

Matt Burchett and Collins had two assists each while Amador and Moore added one apiece.

Goalkeeper Ryan Rankin recorded his fourth straight shutout.

Both teams advance to regional play next week.

Letcher Central advanced to the 53rd District championship match tonight following a 4-2 win over Hazard in a match played at Cougar Field on Wednesday night.

Lance Whitaker had two goals while Hayden Bentley and Javier Polly added one each as the Cougars moved to 5-10-1.

Nate Cook stopped eight shots on goal.

Prestonsburg beat Johnson Central, 3-1, to claim 57th District tournament championship in a match played at The Rock on Wednesday night.

Sophie Stephens scored two goals as the Lady Blackcats improved to 18-1. Maggie Nelson added one goal while Anna Burchett had two assists and Alexis Skeens added one.

Haley Lykins scored the lone Johnson Central goal off an assist by Brooklyn Ousley.

Goalkeeper Clara Blair had six saves.

Both teams advance to regional play next week.

Belfry………………1

Lawrence County scored three goals in the second half to pull away and defeat Belfry, 4-1, in the 58th District championship match played on their home turf on Wednesday night.

Jasmine Justice had two goals while Brylee Blair and Alyssa Moore added one each as the Lady Bulldogs improved to 13-6.

Moore had two assists. Shelby Borders and Camberleigh Maxi-Stepp added one each.

Kaison Ward stopped seven shots between the pipes.

Both teams advance to regional play next week.
