Two of the region’s top high school softball programs clashed on Wednesday night and the game lived up to all the hype.
Man pitcher Morgan Cooper scattered four hits and belted a solo home run to lead the Lady Billies to a 2-0 win over Tug Valley in the Class A, Region IV, Section 1 showdown.
Jacklyn Barnett doubled in Carly Muncy with a run as Man, now 16-2, scored twice in the bottom half of the sixth inning to snap a scoreless tie.
Tug Valley pitcher Autumn Hall was rock solid as well in the loss. She allowed only three hits.
Cooper and Hall combined for 23 strikeouts and neither hurler walked a batter.
Cassidy Griffey had two of the Lady Panthers (16-13) four hits. Haleigh Muncy and Alyssa Newsome each singled.
