HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Ford sets school record in strikeouts in Pikeville win over Valley

Pikeville first baseman Isabella Rose delivered a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Lady Panthers a 12-2 mercy-rule win over Shelby Valley in a game played at Myers Field on Monday night.

Starting pitcher and winner Emily Ford finished with 11 strikeouts and became the school’s all-time leader as Pikeville improved to 20-7. Ford had four hits of her own, including a pair of triples.

Kelcie Adams added two hits and knocked in a pair of runs while Cassidy Slater, Larren Collins and Shana Ray all batted in one run apiece.

Kyra Looney had an RBI single for the Bat Kats, now 8-12. Maggie Hall doubled in one run while Olivia Bowling and losing pitcher Riley Fleming both singled and scored.

Johnson Central pounded out 14 hits and took the lead away from Letcher Central in the top of the third inning and went on to score a 10-3 win in the Tim Short Classic played at Perry Central on Saturday.

Randi Delong had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and knocked in a pair of runs as the Lady Eagles moved to 18-4. She also scored twice. Abigail Williams added two hits, scored, and batted in one run. Claire Gamble doubled twice and scored a pair of runs and Raygan Anderson doubled in two runs.
