HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Lady Eagles top LCC; Pikeville sweeps Jenkins

Johnson Central pounded out 15 hits and built a big lead early on in rolling to a 9-5 win over Letcher County Central in a home game on Tuesday night.

Claire Gamble had three hits, including a triple, and knocked home three runs as Johnson Central moved to 2-1. Randi Delong added a pair of singles and batted in three while Kaleigh Welch singled, walked, scored, and added an RBI.

Maddie Vaughn was the winning pitcher.

Abigail McDougal singled and scored while driving in two runs as the Lady Cougars dropped to 0-2. Losing pitcher Makennah Johnson had two singles and drove in one run while Kara Holcomb added an RBI single.

Lawrence County’s Danielle Crum was a base hit shy of hitting for the cycle as the Lady Bulldogs beat Magoffin County, 9-5, in a home game played on Tuesday night.

Crum scored three runs and drove in four as Lawrence County improved to 4-1. Kensley Feltner belted a home run and singled while knocking in a pair of runs. Abby Maynard singled and batted in two.

Allie Triplett was the winning pitcher.

Magoffin County’s Ashlyn Patrick smashed a home run and singled while collecting a pair of RBIs. Losing pitcher Jaden Williams had two hits, one a double, walked and knocked in two. Scarlett McCarty had an RBI single and scored.

Paintsville pitcher Laney Bledsoe struck out 11 batters and helped her own cause at the plate as the Lady Tigers scored a 7-2 road win over Shelby Valley on Tuesday night.

Ashley Wells tripled twice, walked, scored two runs, and batted in two as the Lady Tigers evened their record at 3-3. Carrigan Ratliff doubled in one run and scored while Bledsoe double, scored and added an RBI.

Kyra Looney had three hits for the Bat Kats, now 2-1, including a triple. She drove in a run. Olivia Bowling had two singles and scored while Josie Adkins collected two hits.

Macy Salyers was the losing pitcher.

Pikeville senior hurler Emily Ford struck out 12 and tossed a no-hitter as the Lady Panthers beat Jenkins, 11-0, in game one at Myers Field. Hannah Akers struck out 10 as Pikeville took game two, 14-0.

Ford belted an inside-the-park home run in the opener and Ginna Jones tripled and doubled. Izzy Rose tripled, singled, and batted in three. Jones tripled and doubled in game two, driving in three runs.

Kelsie Adams added two hits in the nightcap, scored once and batted in two. Cassidy Slater added two hits and scored two runs while driving in one. Ford singled and had a pair of RBIs.
