HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Pike Central beats Pikeville; Belfry blanks East Ridge

Pike County Central’s Emalie Tackett belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning and Taylor Hannah added a pair of singles and drove in one run as the Lady Hawks spoiled the coaching debut of Pikeville’s Jason Clark, beating the Lady Panthers, 4-2, at the Hawks Nest on Monday night.

Chloe Hannah was the winning pitcher as Central improved to 3-1. She also doubled and singled. Hannah May and Sydney Thompson both singled and scored.

Ginna Jones and losing pitcher Emily Ford hit solo home runs in the season opening loss. Cassidy Slater added a pair of singles.

Natalie Fite had a pair of triples and drove in two runs as the Lady Pirates moved t 2-1. Linzee Phillips singled twice, scored three runs, and added a pair of RBIs.

Grace Martin had three hits and drove in four runs while scoring three times. Jadyn Hall added two hits and batted in two runs. Chelsea Johnson added three hits, including a double, and scored two runs.

Emma Dudleson, Amelia Blackburn, and Allyson Stumbo all added an RBI each.

Martin County’s offense was in high gear as the Lady Cardinas cruised to an 18-6 win over host Prestonsburg in a game played on Monday night.

Keilan Jewell had a big game with four hits, including three doubles. She drove in five runs and scored twice. Winning pitcher Zoie Hinkle added two hits, one a double, scored two runs and drove in four.

Brittany Thompson tripled in two runs and scored while Skyla Messer collected three hits, including a pair of doubles.
