HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Pike Central edges Belfry; Pikeville wins in 8 innings

The Pike County Central Lady Hawks snapped a six-game losing streak with a 4-3 win over Belfry in a 60th District matchup played at the Hawks Nest on Monday night.

Winning pitcher Lilly Blackburn scattered five hits and allowed just one earned run as Central moved to 2-6.

Sydnee Lowe had three hits, including a double, scored two runs and drove in one while Livia Sanders doubled, singled and added an RBI.

Pikeville pushed across seven runs in the top of the eighth inning to beat Lawrence County, 11-5, in a road games played on Monday night.

Winning pitcher Emily Ford had three hits, including a home run. She scored twice and drove in four runs as the Lady Panthers improved to 7-4 and won their fifth straight game.

Isabelle Rose added two singles and knocked in four runs while Gracie Hall tripled in one run and Larren Collins added an RBI single and scored. Ginna Jones doubled, singled and score a pair of runs. Kelcie Adams finished with three hits and scored once.

Johnson Central’s Randi Delong and winning pitcher Emily Adkins each belted a home run to power the Lady Eagles to a 12-1 road win over Martin County in a game played on Monday night.

Delong also doubled, scored two runs, and batted in three while Adkins added a single, scored twice and had three RBIs.

Chloe VanHoose added three hits, one a double. She scored two runs and batted in one. Macy Conley doubled, singled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.

Letcher Central winning pitcher Makennah Johnson singled home the game-winning run in the bottom of the first inning as the Lady Cougars edged Belfry, 2-1, in a home game on Saturday.

Autumn Wampler tied the game at one with a solo home run to right centerfield as Letcher Central improved to 5-1. She also tripled.

Belfry, now 4-3, scored in the top of the inning on Cameron Childers’ RBI-double.

Johnson struck out 13 batters and walked just one while holding the Lady Pirates scoreless over the final six innings.

Losing pitcher Molly Fahm did the same. Both pitchers allowed seven hits.

Harley Driskell doubled in two runs and scored. Gracie McDougal tripled and scored.

Shelby Blevins had two hits, including a double, scored one run and drove in five as the Lady Bulldogs improved to 5-2. Kaitlyn Meddings doubled, singled, and batted in three runs while Bree Jones had four hits, scored three runs, and knocked in one.

Danielle Crum tripled, doubled, scored three times, and added a pair of RBIs. Winning pitcher Allie Triplett scored two runs and batted in two runs.

Paintsville pitcher Chloe Hannah scattered four hits as the Lady Tigers advanced to the girls’ 15th Region All A Classic Tournament championship game with a 10-0 win over Prestonsburg in a game played at StoneCrest Sports Complex on Friday night.

The Lady Tigers, now 2-2, had 12 extra base hits. Maggie Music, Chessa Collins and Abby Maynard had two triples each. Maynard had three RBIs while Music and Collins knocked in two each.

Abby Poe had two singles for the Lady Blackcats, now 3-3. Alivia Slone, Chloe Collins, and Shae Robinson all had one hit.

Haleigh Jefferson was tagged with the loss.

Johnson had two hits, including a triple, and knocked in three runs while Chloe Wampler singled, walked, scored, and batted in three. Olivia Frazier added two singles and knocked in two runs while scoring once.

Madison Prater had the lone Phelps hit and she drove in one run. Madison Norman suffered the loss as the Lady Hornets dropped to 0-2.
