HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Pikeville claims Lyndel Potter tournament title

Pikeville dominated Shelby Valley from the outset and the Lady Panthers went on to score a 15-0 mercy rule win over the Bat Kats in the Lyndel Potter Memorial tournament championship game played at Myers Field on Saturday evening.

Senior pitcher Emily Ford won her fourth straight tournament game as the Lady Panthers won the title for only the second time in 19 years. Ford was named Most Valuable Player.

Izzy Rose had two hits and drove in three runs while scoring once. Cassidy Slater doubled and walked. She knocked in three runs and scored once.

Ginna Jones singled and walked while batting in two and scoring a run. Ford had two hits, including a double, walked, and scored one run while driving in another. Kelcie Adams singled and walked three times. She added an RBI.

Emily Adkins had the only hit for Shelby Valley in the loss. Macy Salyers was the losing pitcher.

Winning pitcher Emily Ford and Hannah Akers each doubled, singled, scored and added two RBIs. Shana Ray singled three times and scored a pair of runs. Caroline Brown singled and walked while scoring a run and driving in another.

Pikeville erupted for 13 runs in the first inning and the Lady Panthers made quick work of Paintsville, beating the Lady Tigers, 17-1, in three innings during the opening night of the Lyndel Potter Memorial tournament on Friday.

Ginna Jones tripled and doubled, walked, and batted in three runs. Cassidy Slater singled twice and batted in three runs while scoring twice.

Olivia Hall added two singled and batted in two runs while scoring. Shana Ray and Kelcie Adams had a pair of RBIs each. Winning pitcher Emily Ford and Izzy Rose added an RBI each. Ford doubled, singled, and walked. Rose singled and scored twice.
