HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Pikeville claims seventh straight All A title

The Pikeville Panthers captured a seventh straight All A title with a 6-1 win over Paintsville in the 15th Region championship played at StoneCrest Sports Complex on Saturday.

Winning pitcher Emily Ford struck out 13 batters and allowed just one hit as Pikeville improved to 5-4 and won their third straight game.

Ginna Jones belted a home run and drove in a pair of runs while Kelcie Adams had two hits and scored two runs.

Cassidy Slater and Caroline Brown each singled and scored.

Losing pitcher Laney Bledsoe blasted a solo home run as the Lady Tigers dropped to 2-3.

Pikeville punched its ticket to the 15th Region All A Classic Tournament championship game with a 9-0 win over Shelby Valley in a game played at StoneCrest Sports Complex on Friday.

Winning pitcher Emily Ford struck out 11 batters and allowed just two hits. She was a force at the plate with two hits, including a home run and double. She knocked in five runs and scored twice.

Cassidy Slater tripled, scored three times, and batted in two runs. Kelcie Adams doubled, singled, and scored three runs.
