HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: Duty, Ryan no-hit Tigers; Campbell’s debut spoiled

Pikeville pitchers Isaac Duty and Bash Ryan combined to toss a no-hitter as the Panthers opened the high school baseball season with a 12-0, mercy-rule win over Paintsville on the new turf at Davis Park on Monday night. 

Noah Jarrell had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in three runs. Jeb Wilkerson added a double, walked and added three RBIs.

Jake Lowe singled in two runs and Sam Wright added an RBI single and scored twice.

Greenup County took the lead away from Lawrence County in the bottom of the fifth inning and went on to outscore the Bulldogs, 13-10, in the season opener played on Monday night,.

Dylin Whitt belted a solo home run in the loss and drove in three runs. Abner Collinsworth doubled in a pair of runs and scored twice.

Eli Fletcher singled, scored, and batted in two while Jake Derifield singled twice and scored both times.

Talon Pollock was tagged with the loss.

Shelby Valley pounded out 10 hits and jumped ahead early on in beating Martin County, 11-2, in the season opener played on Monday.

Winning pitcher Jaxson Damron aided his own cause with a base hit, walk, run scored and knocked in three runs. Braden Harrids singled and batted in a pair of runs.

Samuel Brown doubled, walked twice scored three runs and knocked in one. Hunter Mullins tripled and singled and scored three times.

Losing pitcher Greyden Proctor singled, walked two times, and batted in two. Damian Cheek doubled and scored.

Hayden Robinette doubled twice and knocked in a pair of runs for the Warriors. Dylan Burdine singled and scored,.

Byron Tackett was the winning pitcher while Kolin Blackburn took the loss.

Winning pitcher Jaden Williams had three hits, including a two-run home run, and batted in four runs. 

Rylie Castle, Katie Howard Jaylynn Lafferty, and Katie Carty all had two hits and drove in a pair of runs each.

Molly Coleman had three hits for the Lady Panthers. She tripled and singled twice, driving in two runs. She scored twice. 

Cassidy Slater tripled home two runs. Gina Jones and Gracie Hall had two hits each and added an RBI.

Winning pitcher Taylor Blevins scattered only two hits – one each off the bats of Jaycie Stanley and Abby Hess.

Allie Triplett double in two runs and walked while Abby Nelson scored once and batted in two.

Abby Maynard doubled in one run and scored twice while Jaylee Maxie singled twice, walked, scored, and added an RBI.
