HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: P’burg girls move to 2-0; JC blanks Magoffin County

Prestonsburg escaped a tight opening set and took control against Lawrence County and the Lady Blackcats cruised to a 3-0 victory at Prestonsburg Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.

The Lady Blackcats, now 2-0, were led by Molly Boyd with 12 kills, 11 assists, seven digs and seven serving aces in the 28-26, 25-14 and 25-12 match win.

Erin Akers had three kills, 18 assists and 12 digs while Aaliyah Jarrell added three kills and 12 digs. Jada Slone finished with 10 kills and five serving aces.

Prestonsburg will journey to Perry County Central tonight.

Johnson Central took charge in the opening set and cruised to a 3-0 victory over Magoffin County in a match played on Wednesday night.

Randy Delong had eight kills and three serving aces in the 25-10, 25-6 and 25-14 match win.

Mayson Delong added five aces and seven kills while Sydney May added seven aces and five kills.

Kendal Hall finished with three kills and three aces and Lindsay Cochran had three kills.

Prestonsburg took a close first set against Jenkins and went on to score a 3-0 victory in the season opener played at Prestonsburg Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.

Jada Slone had 10 kills, two digs and three serving aces in the 25-22, 25-12 and 26-24 match win.

Molly Boyd totaled eight kills, five assists, nine digs and two serving aces while Erin Akers had 13 assists, three digs and seven aces.
