HS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Shelby Valley, Pikeville reach All ‘A’ finals

59th District rivals Shelby Valley and Pikeville punched their tickets to Friday night’s All “A” Classic tournament finals with impressive wins at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Wednesday night.

Here is a recap:

The Wildcats landed three players in double figure scoring in a 69-58 victory over Paintsville.

Zack Johnson fired in 28 points to lead the way as valley improved to 4-0. Keian Worrix added 13 and Kaden Robinson net 10. Anthony Pallotta chipped in nine.

The Tigers, now 2-2, were led by Colby Fugate’s 16 and Jaxson Watts’ 13 points. Braxton Tharp added 10.

At Pikeville

Pikeville built a big halftime lead against East Ridge and rolled to a 59-36 win.

Nick Robinson had a game-high 21 points for the Panthers, now 2-1, and Rylee Sammons added 17 and eight rebounds.

Issac Woods paced the Warriors, who lost for the first time in four games, with 10 points. Eli Rose added eight.

Belfry grabbed the lead early and the Pirates went on to beat 14th Region power Knott County Central, 67-60, on the road Wednesday night.

Tyler Chaffin fired in 19 points as Belfry improved to 3-0 and handed the Patriots a rare homecourt loss. Sal Dean followed with 16 and Ben McNamee tossed in 10. Bol Kuir finished with nine points and 14 rebounds.
