HS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Warriors storm back to stun Cougars; Dogs top Hornets

East Ridge erupted for 41 points in the final quarter to erase an 18-point, third quarter deficit to stun Letcher Central, 79-76, in the season opener played on the Reservation Monday night.

Issac Woods fired in a game-high 25 points to lead the Warriors and Braxton Stanley followed with 21 points and Eli Rose added 15.

Nigel Nichols paced the Cougars with 21 points. Isaiah Adams tossed in 17 and Brady Boggs net 11. Joby Johnson and Kaden Adams chipped in 10 each.

Johnson Central ran out to a double-digit lead early on and cruised to a 72-56 win over Raceland in the season opener played at Eagle Fieldhouse on Monday.

Cory VanHoose finished with a game-high 30 points and Ryleh McKenzie followed with 11 and Isaiah May tossed in 10.

Trenton Adkins led a trio of Bulldogs in double-figure scoring with a game high 18 points Cody Maynard and Baden Gillispie followed with 11 each.

Dominick Francis was the lone Hornet in double-digit scoring with a baker’s dozen. Jaylen Wells chipped in eight.
