University of Pikeville women’s golfer Boo Newsome was named a third team All-American on Thursday. She became the first Bear in program history to be honored as an All-American.
Earlier this season, she also became the first Bear in program history to be named NAIA National Golfer of the Week. Other accolades included being named First Team All Mid-South Conference and the MSC Golfer of the Week five times.
Newsome had an incredible year for the Bears, winning four tournaments to give her 16 career wins, which is the program record. She also tied the program record with a 54-hole score of 224 at the IWU Fall Invitational in October of 2021.
She was second in program history with a low round of 68 and a low 36-hole score of 142, which both occurred at the Alice Lloyd Fall Invitational in September 2021. Her average score of 75.67 for the season is also second in program history.
