HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Valley’s Osborne earns Player of the Week

There were several outstanding performances on the gridiron this past weekend, including the play of Shelby Valley quarterback Russ Osborne.

The Wildcat signal-caller passed for 547 yards and four touchdowns, and he rushed for two scores in a 52-48 loss to Letcher Central.

His effort earned him the Buffalo Wild Wings’ Player of the Week award.

Special honorable mention was:

Pike County Central running back Matt Anderson rushed for 280 yards and five touchdowns in the Hawks win over Pendleton County.

Letcher Central quarterback Jonah Little passed for 210 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 135 yards and three touchdowns in the Cougars win over Shelby Valley.

East Ridge quarterback Dylan Burdine passed for 220 yards and four touchdowns in the Warriors win over Waggener.

Shelby Valley receiver Brady Bentley caught 11 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns at LCC.

Johnson Central running back Zack McCoart had 186 yards rushing and scored three touchdowns in the Golden Eagles win over Lafayette.

Martin County running back Dawson Mills rushed for 244 yards and three touchdowns in the Cardinals win over Leslie County.

Paintsville running back Harris Phelps ran for 165 yards and three scores in the Tigers win over Floyd Central.

Honorable mention was:

Belfry running back Ace Caudill rushed for 180 yards and one touchdown.

East Ridge running back Isaiah Adkins ran for 111 yards and a touchdown while receiver Zack Mason caught six passes for 90 yards and two scores.

Pikeville’s Tayvian Boykins ran for 122 yards and two touchdowns in the Panthers loss at Corbin.

Johnson Central’s Carter Conley ran for 117 yards and a score in the win over Lafayette.

Lawrence County’s Ryan Marcum and Cody Crum rushed for 109 and 106 yards, respectively, and three touchdowns combined in the Bulldogs win over Harrison County.

Shelby Valley’s Jon Fields had 113 yards receiving and two scores in the loss to the Cougars.

Martin County’s Brock Messer ran for 105 yards and a score in the win over the Eagles.

Betsy Layne’s Reese Music rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown and quarterback Brady Robinson passed for 92 yards and a touchdown and ran for 77 yards and a score in the Bobcats loss at Prestonsburg.

Floyd Central quarterback Max Martin passed for 203yards and two touchdowns in the Jaguars loss to Paintsville.

Prestonsburg running back Ethan Jarvis ran for 126 yards and a touchdown and quarterback Reece Hamilton passed for 107 yards and a score in the Blackcats win over Betsy Layne.
