HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: McCoart garners Player of the Week honors.

Johnson Central running back Zack McCoart ran for 181 yards and four touchdowns in the Golden Eagles 35-0 win over Belfry.

His effort has earned him the Buffalo Wild Wings Player of the Week honors.

Here is this week’s special honorable mention:

East Ridge quarterback Dylan Burdine passed for 291 yards and four touchdowns as East Ridge finished at 4-6. He completed 12-of-14 attempts. Receiver Brad Howell caught three passes for 121 yards and three touchdowns. 

Floyd Central running back Sheston Johnson rushed for three second half touchdowns as the Jaguars ended na 22-game losing streak.

Honorable mention:

Shelby Valley quarterback Russ Osborne tossed a pair of touchdown passes – one each to Jayden Newsome and Brady Bentley. Osborne finished with 168 yards through the air. Newsome rushed for 104 yards and a score on 21 carries and one touchdown.

Martin County running back Madden Miller ran for 98 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. Brock Messer led the Cardinal with 116 yards on 22 rushing attempts.

Betsy Layne running back Andrew McCutcheon ran for 116 yards and a score and caught a touchdown pass covering 25 yards. Reece Music rushed 16 times for 154 yards and a touchdown.

Floyd Central running back B,J. Petersen ran for 107 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.

East Ridge receiver Zack Mason hauled in four passes for 111 yards and a score.

Letcher Central quarterback Jonah Little passed for a pair of touchdowns and ran for a pair as Central improved to 7-3. He carried 14 times for 129 yards.
