Letcher Central and Knott Central battled back-and-forth throughout their showdown before the Patriots slipped past the Lady Cougars, 48-44, in the 53rd District tournament championship game played on Tuesday night.
Loren Boggs paced the Lady Cougars, now 14-13, with 12 points. Kaylee Banks tossed in 11 and Brooke Bates net nine.
The Lady Cougars will advance to the 14th Region tournament as the runner-up.
