The University of Pikeville used a pair of longballs in the series opener against Bethel University to earn a 6-5 win in a game played on Friday.
Demarco Miller and Jairemy Pulido each hit a home run as the Bears moved to 4-4. Jared Kirkman had two hits, scored once, and drove in one run.
Collin Fenili was the winning pitcher.
In Saturday’s doubleheader, the Bears fell 7-4 and 8-3.
Miller and Pulido were the big sticks again in the game one loss. Miller belted a solo home run, doubled, scored a pair of runs and batted in a pair. Pulido had three hits, including a double. Tyler Maynard singled, scored, and knock in one run.
In the finale, Tyler Freas had a pair of singles, drove in two runs, and scored. Jared Kirkman had an RBI-single while Pulido doubled and singled.
Ethan Cernohous and Nolan Fernandes were tagged with the losses.
