COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Bears open with big win over Virginia-Lynchburg

The University of Pikeville Bears won their season opener for the 16th straight season, downing Virginia University of Lynchburg, 95-57, at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Teddy Parham Jr. paced a balanced scoring attack with 20 points. Shauun Monroe followed with 13 points. Korbin Spencer and Devin Collins tallied 11 each while Elijah Herron and Jacob Brown dropped in 10 apiece.

UPIKE will return to action in an exhibition game at Marshall University on Nov. 2. Game time is 6 pm.
