COLLEGE BASKETBALL: UPIKE men, women fall to Tennessee-Southern

The University of Pikeville men’s and women’s basketball teams returned to the hardwood at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Thursday night.

Neither outcome favored the home team.

Tennessee-Southern shut down the men offensively to earn an 80-65 victory, dropping the Bears to 12-4 overall and 5-3 in Mid-South Conference games.

UPIKE managed to net two players in double-figure scoring as Jacob Brown led the way with 17 points. Taevon Horton followed with 14.

Meanwhile, the women dropped a 63-57 outcome to the Firehawks. The loss left the Bears at 9-8 overall and 3-7 in league play.

Morgan Stamper paced UPIKE with 19 points while Alexis Reed and LeeAnna McNulty tossed in 13 each.

Both teams will return to action against Life University at home on Saturday. The action tips off with the women at 2 pm.
