COLLEGE BASKETBALL: UPIKE women open with big road win

University of Pikeville women’s basketball went on the road Thursday night to Milligan (Tenn.) University and dominated in an 84-48 victory.

Senior Brianna Burbridge led a balanced attack with 19 points while Morgan Stamper followed with a double-double in her debut with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Mary Englert added seven.

UPIKE built a 49-22 halftime lead and cruised throughout the second half.

The Bears will open conference play at home against Georgetown College at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Nov. 19.
