COLLEGE BASKETBALL: UPIKE women splits pair of games

The University of Pikeville women’s basketball Bears ran out to a big first-quarter lead and cruised to a 71-55 win over Wilberforce University in a game played at the UPIKE Gymnasium on Saturday.

Sierra Feltner fired in 16 points to lead a balanced scoring attack as the Bears improved to 87-4.

Allie Stone tallied 14 and Mary Englert and Morgan Stamper net 11 each.

UPIKE will play this coming Saturday and Sunday in Lake Wales, Fla., facing Warner University and Webber International.

The University of Pikeville’s slow start against undefeated Thomas More was the difference in the final outcome as the Bears fell short, 62-57, in a road game played in Thursday.

Sierra Feltner tossed in 18 points and Bailey Frazier added 15. Allie Stone chipped in eight.
