COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Bears carry momentum into Saturday’s home game

The University of Pikeville Bears rallied in the closing seconds to knock off Cumberlands University on the road this past Saturday.

Quarterback Xavier Malone hit Alex Sanders with a five -yard scoring strike and 11 seconds remaining to push UPIKE to a 24-17 win.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak as the Bears improved to 3-3.

Malone finished with 201 yards through the air while Sanders rushed for 151 yards on 29 attempts. Sanders caught seven passes for 59 yards and two scores, including the game winner.

UPIKE will return to the W.C. Hambley Athletic Complex to battle Campbellsville (2-5) in a 3 pm kickoff on Saturday.
