COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Kirkland, defense led Bears to first road win

University of Pikeville quarterback Lee Kirkland passed for 233 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and the defense shut down Cumberland (Tenn.) as the Bears won for the first time all season on the road, winning 14-9 on Saturday.

UPIKE snapped a five-game losing streak.

Receiver Randy Ramanan caught five passes for 81 yards, including the eventual game-winning touchdown pass in the third period. The catch and run covered 47 yards.

D’Andre Staffor had four receptions for 52 yards and a first-quarter TD catch of 15 yards.

The Bears, now 3-6, will close out the season at Thomas More University on Nov. 13. Kickoff from Crestview is set for 1 pm.
