HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Belfry cruises past Pike Central in Class 3A opener

Belfry took control from the outset and the Pirates went on to blank Pike Central, 57-0, in the opening round of the Class 3A playoffs at Haywood Stadium on Friday night.

The Pirates, now 5-6, will host Lawrence County (8-3) in the district championship game on Nov. 12. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.

Running back Isaac Dixon had two carries for 105 yards and a touchdown. He caught two passes for 100 yards and two scores.

Reserve running back Alex Long carried four times for 98 yards and two second-half touchdown runs.

Quarterback Caden Woolum and running back Zayne Hatfield added a rushing touchdown each.
