HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Cougars bounce back, blank Bulldogs

Just one week after suffering a lopsided loss to Class 1A power Pikeville, Letcher Central stormed back to shut out Hazard, 36-0, in a game played at Cougar Field on Friday night.

Quarterback Carson Adams was solid, passing for 265 yards and three touchdowns and rushing for 106 yards and two scores as Central improved to 3-1.

Jonah Little hauled in three passes for 91 yards and one touchdown while Nicholas Haning added four receptions for 89 yards and one score. Alex Blair caught three passes for 59 yards and a touchdown.

The Cougars forced three turnovers. Koby Johnson and Haning had an interception each and Dale Webb recovered a fumble.

Letcher Central, which is idle this week, will host Perry Central (3-0) on Sept. 24.Kickoff  is 7:30 pm.
