HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Cougars rally past Black Bears in 14th Coal Bowl

Letcher Central 4-0 for first time in school history

Letcher Central quarterback Carson Adams ran for a pair of touchdowns and passed for another to rally the Cougars to a thrilling 24-7 win over the Harlan County Black Bears in the 14th annual Coal Bowl played at Cougar Field.

Letcher Central improved to 4-0 for the first time in school history and won in the Coal Bowl for the first time since 2014.

Adams had TD runs of one and six yards and tossed a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jonah Little with less than four minutes left.

Harlan County, now 1-3, scored in the opening period on DeMarco Hopkins’ 26-yard TD run.

LCC running back Hayden Brashear capped the scoring with a one-yard run with 90 seconds left.

Letcher Central will host Clay County on Oct. 9 at Cougar Field.
