HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Cougars roll into rematch with Golden Eagles

Letcher Central’s defense was rock solid, and the offense was clicking on all cylinders as the Cougars rolled to a 39-0 win over Perry Central in the opening round of the Class 4A playoffs at Cougar Field on Friday night.

LCC, now 6-1, will play in the district championship game this coming Friday night at Johnson Central. The Golden Eagles won the regular-season matchup.

It was the first playoff win for Letcher Central since 2014, a victory over Madison Central on the home turf.

Quarterback Carson Adams passed for 124 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He hit Sam Little with a 71-yard scoring strike and then threw a 40-yard TD pass to Alex Blair.

Running back Hayden Brashear ran for three scores and Koby Johnson rushed for another.

Letcher Central finished with 418 yards offensively while limiting the Commodores to a mere 67 yards, all through the air. The Cougars forced five turnovers.
