HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Cougars top Black Bears in Coal Bowl

Letcher Central ran its winning streak to three straight games as the Cougars rolled past Harlan County, 45-6, in the 2022 Coal Bowl played at Cougar Field on Friday night.

The Cougars improved to 5-2 and beat Harlan County for a third straight year.

Quarterback Jonah Little passed for 177 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 111 yards and three scores on 13 rushing attempts.

Running back Isaac Matthews added a rushing touchdown. Receiver Keaston Branham caught two passes, both for touchdowns, and finished with 68 yards. Coby Johnson ran for three two-point conversions.

Letcher Central will tackle Clay County (4-2) at home on Oct. 7. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.
