HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Floyd Central scores late to edge Paintsville

Floyd Central running back BJ Petersen scored on a two-yard run with just over one minute remaining to lift the Jaguars to a thrilling 28-22 win over Paintsville in a game played on the new turf at Memorial Field on Friday night.

Petersen ran for 88 yards on 19 carries and scored twice. Running back Jace Martin rushed for 119 yards on 14. Attempts and one touchdown.

Receiver Brody Buck hauled in a 35-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Colt Shelton.

Paintsville quarterback Peyton Adams tossed a scoring pass to Anderson Lauffer while Cain Grimm added TD runs of 8 and 7 yards.

The Jaguars (1-0) will journey to Leslie County (0-1) on Friday night. Kickoff is 7:30 pm. The Tigers (0-1) go on the road to Paris (0-1) on Friday, Game time is 7:30 pm.
