Johnson Central continued its dominance of district opponents as the Golden Eagles ran past Letcher Central, 50-14, to win the championship at Jim Matney Field on Friday night.
Quarterback Grant Rice ran for three touchdowns and passed for another as Johnson Central improved to 10-2. Rice carried 11 times for 120 yards and passed for a score.
Running back Matt Crum finished with 113 yards and one touchdown on 13 carries. Carter Conley and Chase Price added rushing scores. Price also recovered a fumble and picked off a pass.
Receiver Jacob Cain caught a 34-yard touchdown pass.
Letcher Central quarterback Carson Adams passed for 157 yards and one touchdown. Receiver Nicholas Haning caught six passes for 124 yards and a score.
Running back Isaac Matthews scored on a short run.
Johnson Central will travel to Corbin (12-0) for the regional championship game this Friday night. Kickoff is 7:30 pm.
The Cougars season ends at 7-4.
